Reviews Round-Up: BlackBerry's Budget 8520 Comes to Town London

Whenever a manufacturer adds a ‘budget’ tag to the moniker of a handset, it immediately creates pre-conceptions about just how many features are going to be missing. The BlackBerry Curve 8520 made for a pleasant change in London.

Reviews Round-Up: BlackBerry's Budget 8520 Comes to Town

BlackBerry Curve 8520 review

Whenever a manufacturer adds a ‘budget’ tag to the moniker of a handset, it immediately creates pre-conceptions about just how many features are going to be missing. The BlackBerry Curve 8520 made for a pleasant change.

It may not have the highest megapixel count or biggest screen in the BlackBerry family, but it does offer a few innovations of its own, in addition to a wealth of added value through the App World. It’s for those reasons, complemented by the price tag, that our reviewer gave the device the thumbs up.

Konica Minolta Magicolor 8650DN

To get 5/6 and an IT PRO recommended accolade you have to be one step above the rest. And when it comes to the printer market, that’s no mean feat.

Konica Minolta’s duplex A3 printer offers flexible expansion options and Gigabit Ethernet, meaning it’s a purchase that will continue to bear fruits for years to come.

Gateway DU10G review

Gateway disappeared for a while. But now it’s back and how have things changed. This compact machine may be small but it certainly packs a punch, with our reviewer describing it as fast and capable.

The DU10G’s design isn’t as flexible as some of its market peers but that said it does offer space-strapped businesses a bit more choice as to what they want and where it can fit.

Thecus N5500 review

Desktop NAS appliances are everywhere meaning they have to be pretty exceptional to hog the spotlight.

Thecus’ offering here brings to the table a range of new features, an enhanced web interface and good client support although backup support wasn’t anything to really write home about.

The Dual-DOM feature really hit the spot for our reviewer too. And, he’s not that easy to please, so such delight cannot be underestimated.
